It has been another amazing year of ministry at the Waterfield Medical Center as we work together as the Body of Christ guided by the Great Commission to share the Good News and the Great Commandment in loving our Margibi County neighbors. Every day we give thanks to you, our mission partners for your caring support, faithful prayers and generous financial gifts.
From the beginning our vision has remained constant: To uplift lives using community-based healthcare models for medical, vision, and dental care through education and services primarily focused on women and children. In 2025 we look forward to moving beyond these foundational goals with expanded maternity and surgical services to improve the future of our patients/neighbors in Liberia. Celebrate with us as we review last quarter’s milestones and our plans for the future.
Board of Directors
At the end of 2024, our President, Stan Harding rotated off the Board after 6 years of dedicated service. We thank Stan for his amazing leadership during these years of expansion of Healthy Women, Healthy Liberia’s ministry. We welcome our newest Board Member, Kelly Davidson, who now resides in the US, but in the past has served as a missionary in Liberia. Her background will be most helpful as we work to support our Medical Director, Dr. Chris Hena. Linda Baker has moved into the position of President and Bob Parker will be our new Treasurer.

Reaching Out to Neighborhood Children
For the first time, we held back-to-back events for Christmas and New Year’s to feed the children in the Waterfield Medical Center neighborhood and Dr. Chris Hena’s home neighborhood. At the Christmas outreach, 700 children were fed and given gifts of books, clothing and shoes and at the New Year’s outreach 1,020 children were served!
Dental Services at Waterfield
From October through December, Dr. Edmund (Teddy) Bartnett was at the Waterfield Dental Center serving patients and training HWHL staff. We are so thankful for his service at the clinic and out in the villages.
November Barrels of Love Shipment
On November 16th and 23rd, a large quantity of medical supplies and furnishings donated by Through These Hands and flip-flops collected by Trinity UMC, Hackettstown, NJ were packed by volunteers from Asbury UMC, Allentown, PA and Trinity, and were shipped to Liberia for the Waterfield Medical Center.
Our plan is to continue to send out these newsletters on a quarterly basis so we don’t overwhelm your inboxes with emails! For updates between newsletters, please visit our web site and Facebook page.
We treasure your partnership in this mission. Your donations to this ministry are greatly appreciated. We’d love to hear from you anytime with your comments or questions.
