Update in Kakata
This weekend we celebrated Palm Sunday and shouted “Hosanna, save us” with the crowds in Jerusalem. It is with heavy hearts that we share with you that this past Saturday morning Dr. Chris’s home in Kakata was burned to the ground and everything inside was lost.
Praise God, no one was home or injured! Praise God for the wonderful people of Kakata who saved what they could. Our board member Theo Kollie is in Liberia and shared with us that on Saturday morning friends, family and patients met at Dr. Chris’s yard to pray and worship to the Lord next to hear smoldering home. This group recommitted themselves to our calling and vision in Kakata, to improve the health and welfare of the people of Liberia with an emphasis on preventative healthcare programs for women.
As we approach this Holy Week we know that Jesus did not run from his future, he accepted it. In his acceptance he answered our calls, “Hosanna, save us”. We look forward to the Easter story of Jesus resurrection.
As always, Dr. Chris’s spirits are high. Thank you for your prayers of support, phone calls and messages. Please continue to keep her and our HWHL staff in your prayers this week. We will continue to keep you posted on Dr. Chris’s needs and the status of our work.
