Kindness
Presently Dr. Chris Henna, our Medical Director at the Waterfield Medical Center, is on itineration in the US visiting partners in the ministry of Healthy Women, Healthy Liberia. The theme of Dr. Chris’s visits this year has been “kindness”. At Waterfield she has seen small acts of kindness over and over that expand to larger and larger kindnesses as we trust in our God. This quarterly newsletter is dedicated to the concept of kindness and God richly blessing Waterfield and the people of Margibi County as those acts of kindness multiply. Take a moment to listen to Dr. Chris’s inspiring message from May 18th at Asbury Church in Allentown, PA.
This ministry would not be possible without the kindness of our partners. We offer our heartfelt thanks to you for your ongoing partnership in Healthy Women, Healthy Liberia.
Surgical Suite is Open
Thanks to the kindness extended by the Waterfield family, we were able to construct two surgical theaters at Waterfield in 2023. Through These Hands & Guardian’s Hope gifts of kindness have allowed us to obtain the necessary equipment and supplies to begin surgeries at Waterfield. Dr. Peter Cole (from Monrovia) and his team of 7 medical professionals came to Kakata from April 24th through the 27th. In these inaugural surgeries, 52 patients were served. Dr. Coleman and his team plan to return to Waterfield every three months to serve more patients.
A Review from Great Nonprofits
Dr Chris Hena is a blessing to all of those that she serves. Her heart is for the women of Liberia. She has dedicated her life to making quality healthcare accessible which has improved the lives of women and babies making for stronger families. She has been in the mission field with a priority of ensuring that the women of Liberia are educated on health issues. She has lived her life serving others for God’s glory and her passion to provide medical facilities and a medical staff to provide for the women in her home country is nothing less than remarkable. Her gifts and talents extend beyond the wonderful work that she is doing at the medical clinic to include supporting her community through distributing clothing, shoes and books to the children of the area. Chris is the salt and light of the many villages that she serves. What a blessing it is to support this ministry and see others come to know the love of Jesus through Dr. Chris and all she has done.
New Vans
In April Thomas Tapeh, a friend of Waterfield and a former Philadelphia Eagles football player, visited the Clinic. Through his kindness we have received two 16 passenger vans which will be of great value for shuttling visiting medical teams from Monrovia to Kakata and providing additional reliable transportation for our Community Health Workers as they serve over 90 villages surrounding Kakata.
