Dr. Hena’ s Gratitude:
Greetings from Waterfield Primary Health Care Center!
“We were informed during the week of March 16, 2020 that COVID-19 is in Monrovia. We have not seen a case in Kakata, but have been training our staff to use various pieces of personal protective equipment (PPE),” says Dr. Hena.
During the Ebola epidemic, the clinic staff learned from that experience to care for infected patients and will apply those skills to address the current pandemic, if it should come to Kakata. They are much better prepared to the Covid-19 virus as compared to their last experience.
Every Friday, Dr. Hena spends time teaching the staff new things they need to learn at the clinic, and the COvid-19 pandemic has been addressed. The Community Health Care Workers are now to wear masks and gloves during their trips into the surrounding communities and keep these protective items in their back packs. Because of the virus, Dr. Hena instructed all of them to wear masks, since they have to go from house to house.”
A thank-you to our donors:
Dr. Hena wants donors to know how much she and the staff at the Waterfield Center have been blessed. During the Ebola crisis, the clinic only had masks and gloves. Today, they are more prepared with gowns and other PPE.
Supplies were sent from Through These Hands (Dorene and Bruce Shannon) https://www.healthywomenliberia.org/through-these-hands/ and the Asbury United Methodist Church family, both contributors from Pennsylvania, USA, who donated medical supplies to the Center. A big thanks to them. Dr. Hena says, “We are going to defeat this COVID19, because of your generosity.”
