Update from Liberia 9/3/2014
Thank you all for keeping up with our updates. We have rescheduled Dr. Chris’s return date to the states in order to keep her healthy and allow her a 21 day self-quarantine period outside Atlanta. As soon as she has been cleared to leave Liberia and is on her way to the states we will let you all know.
Until then, here is the most recent update from Dr. Chris:
“In addition to the ebola message and distribution of buckets, clorox and
soaps, we are also teaching on community dental healthcare. We have provided 105 tooth brushes to children in need.
We have divided our communities into 4 zones. We have more than a
thousand person living in a zone. The number per zone has drastically
increased since the ebola fear. People traveled from their rural
villages or towns to join other relatives in Kakata. Even though the
govt discouraged this practice, people were still traveling from one
place to another. We saw daily in our outreach new faces.
People were very anxious to feed on every word that we said. Half of
these people are not able to read or write, so we spoke in
the languages that they understood. They were encouraged to pass on
what they learned to their other relatives that were not able to be
present or lived in other areas around the country. We are estimating that we have reached more than 136,000 from March to present (4,000 per community times 35 communities).
Thank you all for your continued thoughts and prayers for all our health and safety. I am looking forward to seeing everyone soon. In Him, Chris.”
